For those of us who aren’t born planners, organising a hen party can take a lot of time and energy, especially if there are specific requirements.
Whether you’re organising around COVID-19 restrictions or you’re planning for a bride who doesn’t like a big fuss, we’ve rounded up some perfect ideas for smaller and alternative hen parties.
If you have any other suggestions, we’d love to hear them. Head to our social media pages to get in touch!
Book specific activities
Focusing on one or two main activities will give your hen night, day, or weekend structure. It’s vital to book ahead to avoid disappointment. If you’re dealing with COVID-19 restrictions, booking well in advance means you’ll be able to find out early on whether the venue can take group bookings.
You could choose a typical hen-party themed activity, or find something in line with the bride’s interests. If the bride is organising a themed wedding, you could even plan hen party activities to match.
For example, you could book life drawing followed by a vintage bottomless brunch, an exciting cocktail making class followed by a show, or even an escape room followed by disco yoga…there are endless possibilities!
Outside activities are a good option if you need to think about social distancing or you have an outdoorsy group. You could try water sports, outdoor yoga, surfing, quad biking, or adventure trails. You don’t have to lose the glamour, either. Why not book a table for cocktails or dinner in the evening?
Organise a hen party festival
The latest news seems to indicate that festivals are back on the cards. Taking a group of pals to a local or national festival will definitely make a hen weekend to remember.
If that’s not an option, you could create your own mini hen party festival. This could involve glamping, live music, outdoor games, barbecue food… whatever you choose, make sure to put enough for extensive decorations!
Go on a hen weekend minibreak in the UK
Like the idea of a hen weekend? How about organising a hen party getaway? Many companies offer package deals, but you could create a bespoke trip by finding a hotel within budget or holiday rental with space for everyone.
You’ll need to make sure that there’s enough to do and enough fun to be had for the price. At peak times and in popular destinations, UK holidays cost almost as much as a holiday abroad, but without the sun, sea, and sand. So, if you’re stuck for ideas, why not stay close to a city or look for a nearby spa deal?
Take it virtual
If you can’t all meet in person, you don’t have to cancel all your plans. After several lockdowns, we’re no strangers to a virtual get together.
The best virtual parties take a fair amount of planning, and you might find that everyone’s done one too many quizzes! Instead, you could organise an online cocktail making or a cookery class through a professional supplier. Or how about a spa hen night with face masks and manicure supplies?
Decorations are key when it comes to creating the right atmosphere. You could either send out or drop off hen party packages with everything everyone needs to have a fantastic night in.
